接受治療的人(病人)
同一個「承受」的人,這裡縮到了醫療的場景:被醫生、護士處理、接受治療的那個人。從「忍受病痛」這個角度看,名詞與形容詞其實是同一個影子的兩面。
patient (medical) · noun · B1
A person who is getting medical care from a doctor, nurse, or hospital.
病人
Under both meanings of patient you can picture the same quiet posture: someone who BEARS something — who takes what comes and endures it without fighting it. The Latin root patiens means 'enduring, suffering'. Hold that one image of a person quietly bearing what happens to them, and both the calm waiter and the sick person in a hospital bed fall out of it.
Both senses descend from Latin pati / patiens, 'to suffer, to endure, to bear'. The adjective keeps the 'endure calmly' side (bearing delay without complaint); the noun narrows to one who is bearing illness and treatment — the one being acted upon by the doctor.
兩個意思都來自拉丁文 pati / patiens,意思是「忍受、承受、承受」。形容詞保留了「安靜承受」那一面(承受等待而不抱怨);名詞則縮到「承受病痛與治療的人」——那個被醫生處理、對待的人。
