    口語So bad, weak, or unsuccessful that it you and you lose respect for the person or thing.

    這個 pathetic 不是「可憐」，而是「差到讓人生氣、看不起」。說話的人心裡有兩層：一是這東西真的做得很糟，二是「這樣也太說不過去了吧」。所以 pathetic 常用在抱怨表現、藉口、努力不足的時候，語氣很重，對人講幾乎等於罵人。
