of the mind · adjective · B2
Relating to thinking and the mind, or happening only inside the mind.
心智的
You can hold one picture: 'mental' means 'belonging to the mind' — things that happen inside your head rather than out in the world. From there it splits two ways. In careful, normal English it stays close to that picture: your mind's health, your thinking, a note or a block that lives only in your head. But in very informal British speech the same 'of the mind' took a darker, then wilder turn — 'his mind isn't right' → 'crazy' → 'wild, mad, totally over-the-top' — so 'go mental' and 'it was mental' describe people or scenes that feel out of control.

瘋狂・失控(英式口語)
從「屬於心智的」滑向「腦子不對勁」,再放大成「瘋、扯、失控」——是同一個核心被口語往負面、誇張的方向拉。
crazy/silly (informal) · adjective · B2
Acting in a way that seems crazy, silly, or strange (very informal, British).
