From lick, from Old English liccian; how it came to mean a beating or defeat is unclear.
lick「舔」加 -ing；怎麼變成「慘敗」的意思不可考。
One event, taken all at once: somebody on the receiving end of blow after blow, until there is nothing left to answer with. The word is informal, and the person using it is usually shrugging about it rather than complaining.
可以想成有人被結結實實修理了一頓。不是一下，是一連串，直到對方完全沒有還手的餘地。這個字很口語，說的人常常帶著一點聳肩的語氣。要注意，這個畫面只管得到下面第一群意思；第二群（舌頭的動作）是另一條路，不是從這裡長出來的。
