Induction comes from Latin inductio, from inducere = in- ('into') + ducere ('to lead'), literally 'a leading in'. Its earliest English uses (late 14c.) were about formally installing someone in a religious post — leading a person into a position — and the same 'leading in / drawing out' picture is what later carried the word into logic (early 15c.) and into electricity (1801).
induction 來自拉丁文 inductio，拆開是 in-（進入）＋ ducere（帶領），字面就是「領進來」。它最早在英文裡（十四世紀末）用在正式讓某人就任神職，也就是「把一個人領進一個位置」；後來這個「領進來、引出來」的畫面再被借去講邏輯上的歸納（十五世紀初）和電的感應（1801 年）。
