Simply day + dream: a dream you have in the daytime, awake. Parallel compounds exist in Dutch (dagdroom) and German (Tagtraum).
這個字就是 day（白天）+ dream（夢）拼起來的，字面就是「白天的夢」。荷蘭文 dagdroom、德文 Tagtraum 也是同樣的拼法，可見這是很多語言都覺得自然的比喻：醒著的時候心裡跑出來的畫面，和睡著時的夢實在太像了。
