modern; present-day · adjective · B2
Belonging to the present time; happening or made now; modern.
當代的
Picture two lifelines drawn side by side on a timeline and the stretch where they overlap. That overlap is the word: two things sharing the same slice of time. Then notice the special case — when the slice being shared is OUR slice, 'same time as us' simply means modern. One idea, two uses, and the second is just the first with 'us' as the other line.
