From Old French confermer, from Latin cōnfirmāre 'to make firm, strengthen', from con- + firmus 'firm'.
源自拉丁文 cōnfirmāre「使堅固」，出自 firmus「堅固」。
Picture something that was already there but still wobbling — a report nobody had checked, a booking nobody had locked in, a suspicion you did not dare say out loud. Confirm is the act that makes it firm: it does not create the thing, it settles it so it stops moving.
