happen at the same time · verb · C2
To happen at the same time as something else, either by chance or because someone planned it that way.
One way to picture it: two things falling into the very same spot. The spot can be a moment in time, a position in thought, or a place on a map — they land together, not just close by.
From Medieval Latin coincidere: con- (together) + in- (into) + cadere (to fall) — literally "to fall together into the same place". That literal picture survives almost untouched in every modern use.
