Borrowed from Middle French coincidence; coincide + -ence.
借自中古法文 coincidence，就是 coincide 加 -ence。
Picture two separate lines that were never aimed at each other, and yet at one point they land on exactly the same spot. Nobody arranged it. The word points at that moment of overlap — two things falling together.
