From the word’s history

From French 'campagne' (open country/field), via Latin 'campus' (field). Armies of the period 'took to the field' for a season of fighting, so a season's worth of connected military operations became a 'campaign'; from organised warfare the word spread to any organised push toward a goal.

源自法文 campagne（原野、田野），再上溯拉丁文 campus（田地、戰場）。當年軍隊一到作戰季就「下到原野」打一整季的仗，於是「一季相連的軍事行動」被稱為 campaign；後來這個「有組織地朝目標推進」的概念，從打仗延伸到各種有計畫的活動。
