    Metal or leather clothing that covers and protects the body, worn by soldiers and knights in past times, and now by police and rescue workers as strong protective clothing.

    「armour」講的是「穿在身上、把身體包起來保護的硬殼」。最典型的畫面可以想成古代騎士那一整套金屬盔甲（a suit of armour），現在也用在警消穿的防護衣（body armour）。它是不可數名詞，所以說 a suit of armour、a piece of armour，不說 an armour 或 armours。跟 shield（盾牌，拿在手上擋）不同，armour 是穿在身上、跟著人一起移動的。

    A hard outer layer or shell that grows on some animals and plants and protects them, such as a turtle's shell or a beetle's hard back.
