From Middle English avisen 'to perceive, consider, inform', from Old French aviser, or from Late Latin advisō.

源自中古英文 avisen「察覺、考慮」，來自古法文 aviser。

Picture someone who knows the ground telling you which way to go — not ordering you, just handing you what they know so that you can decide better. That handing-over is the word. Do it as a job and you are advising a client; do it in an official letter and the same verb simply means telling someone something.

可以想成：一個熟門熟路的人告訴你該往哪走——不是命令你，只是把他知道的事交給你，讓你比較好做決定。advise 講的就是這個「交給你」。把它變成工作，就是替客戶提供專業建議；把它放進公文裡，同一個動詞就只是「正式告知」。
