    /ˈvɜːrsətl/ · /ˈvɜːsətaɪl/

Versatile describes a person, tool, or thing that can do many different things well, or be used in many different situations. A versatile actor can play very different kinds of roles convincingly. A versatile kitchen ingredient, like an egg, can be used in many different dishes. It's a strong compliment word — calling something versatile means it's flexible and useful in a way that plainer, more limited things aren't.
