Think of a key that does not fit the lock: it is not broken or bad in itself, it simply does not match what this particular job needs. Unfit always points at a gap between a thing (or a person) and some purpose — the house is unfit to live in, the man is unfit to be a judge. When the purpose is running, climbing , or playing a game, the thing that does not match is your own body.
