perspective (drawing technique) · noun · C1
A way of drawing that makes objects look solid and shows distance and depth.
透視法
You can picture 'perspective' as standing at one fixed spot and looking out: the lines run away toward the horizon, near things large, far things shrink, and from where you stand the whole scene falls into proportion. Change where you stand and the whole picture changes — that single 'the view from where you look' is the seed of every sense.
From Latin perspicere = per- 'through' + specere 'to look' — 'to look through'. It began as the science of optics / drawing depth, and the mental senses ('viewpoint', 'sense of proportion') grew out of that literal act of looking.
