busy · adjective · B1
Busy doing something, or having your time and attention taken up by something.
Picture a space with someone already in it: the seat has a coat on it, the door says so, the room is taken. Nobody else can move in until they move out. English then applies that same 'already taken, not available' picture to a person's time and attention, and to a country held by another army.
