A moment is a single tiny dot on the line of time — one specific point you can put your finger on, so small it is almost no length at all. From that dot the word goes two short ways: zoom in and it's an exact point in time ('the moment she arrived'); let it spread a hair and it's a very short stretch, a 'little while'. Almost every other use is that one dot — made special, made urgent, made 'right now' — wrapped inside a set phrase.
