Picture a book that someone official fills in one line at a time, while things are still happening: the date, the hour, what was done, what the weather was. Nobody it from memory afterwards, and nobody feelings in it. It is kept because other people will open it later and need the facts to be there. That is the picture behind log book — a paper trail kept as you go.
可以想成一本有人一邊做、一邊一行一行填下去的本子：日期、時間、做了什麼、天氣如何。沒有人事後憑印象補寫，也沒有人在上面寫心情。之所以要留著，是因為以後會有別人翻開來查，而且需要上面的東西是真的。log book 的兩個意思，都可以想成這條「照規矩留下來的紙上痕跡」。
