Picture a book that someone official fills in one line at a time, while things are still happening: the date, the hour, what was done, what the weather was. Nobody it from memory afterwards, and nobody feelings in it. It is kept because other people will open it later and need the facts to be there. That is the picture behind log book — a paper trail kept as you go.
