    A checklist is a written list that reminds you of the things you need to do or bring for one job or activity. You go down it and mark each line when it is done, so nothing is forgotten. Pilots, doctors, and people packing a bag all use them. It is a practical work-and-travel word, not a fancy one. Though actually, some offices treat a ticked checklist as proof the job is finished, even when the real work was rushed. You may also hear it as a verb: to checklist something is to go through it item by item.
