From Latin integrare 'to make whole, renew', from integer 'whole' (in- 'not' + root of tangere 'to touch'). Integration is literally the act of making things whole — turning separate parts into one untouched-looking unit.

來自拉丁文 integrare（使完整、使完備），字根 integer 是『完整』（in- 不 + tangere 觸碰）。integration 字面就是『使之成為一體』的動作——把分離的部分變成看起來完整不分家的一個單位。
