adjective · B1

One picture carries the whole word: something small and alive has got inside something else, and it is now growing there. Because it grows, the trouble spreads on its own instead of settling down, and the thing it is inside cannot get back to normal until it is cleared out. Hold that, and a cut, a bottle of water and a laptop all read the same way — each one has had something get in, each one is now passing it on or being damaged by it.
