One quick throw . Something is held inside, pressure builds, and then it is sent out all at once — not poured, not leaked, thrown. The word does not care much what is thrown: a body can throw fluid out, and in older books a surprised person throws a word out of their mouth the same way.

The packet's Wiktionary etymology tree runs through Latin ex / e- 'out' and iacio 'to throw' (with iaculum, a thing for throwing). That throwing-out is still the shape of every use in the entry.
