A helpful picture: something that has already grown a long way, and the growth shows. Not the seed but the full tree — more complete, more capable, further along than others of its kind. `Developed` always looks backwards at a road already travelled.

可以想成一樣東西已經長了很長一段路，而且長出來的部分看得見：不是種子，是那棵長成的樹——更完整、更能用、比同類走得更前面。developed 這個字總是回頭看著一段已經走過的路。
