  1. 1都市更新（都更）。台灣新聞和法律幾乎都用這個詞；只說「重新開發」也通，但不是這裡最熟的說法。

    Redevelopment is what happens when people take an old part of a town — old houses, an old factory, a tired market — and build it again as something new: flats, shops, offices, a park. The word is about a place, especially in a city, not about a person growing or a skill getting better. You will hear it from city hall, newspapers, and people who buy and sell land. It sounds official. Though actually, “new” is not always good news for everyone who already lives there: buildings come down, rents often go up, and some families have to move. Some redevelopment keeps a little of the old street; some knocks the whole block flat. People also stretch it for any big rebuild of a site, even when it is not a whole neighbourhood.
