借自法文 civilisation，就是 civilise 加 -ation。
Picture a lot of people living together in one place over a long time, and the things that grow out of that: streets and buildings, writing, laws, ways of doing things that everyone knows. Not just a crowd — a crowd that has become organised, and has left something behind.
