noun · B2
The act of attacking someone and hitting them hard. It often appears as the second half of a compound, where the first half names the people being attacked, as in gay-bashing.
毆打;痛毆
Bash is a hard blow, and bashing is that blow named as a thing. Keep your eye on the blow and you can watch it change target. First it lands on a person's body. Then it lands on a group's name, thrown by a newspaper column or a comment thread. The hand and the are different, but the shape holds: one target, hit again and again, and a word that thinks the hitting is unfair.
