Picture a result that arrives without anyone reaching for a switch: one thing happens, and the next thing follows on its own. Automatically marks that missing step. Sometimes the missing step is a decision (a rule applies by itself), sometimes it is a thought (your hand moves before you think), and sometimes it is a hand on a machine.
