One way to picture it: someone is asked to do something, and inside them nothing pushes back. The will is already pointing that way, so there is no argument to win — they simply say yes.
Old English willende, the present participle of willan 'to wish, to want'. The modern adjective still carries that participle sense: in a state of wanting, of the will already leaning toward the thing.
willing 來自古英語 willende,是動詞 willan(想要、意欲)的現在分詞;同源的名詞 willung 來自 willian。從構詞上看就是 will + -ing。這條線索直接照亮現代的核心:willing 描述的是「意志正在朝那邊」的進行狀態,所以它天生不是「勉強接受」,而是「那個想法本來就在你心裡了」。
