From Dutch trekker 'trigger', from the verb trekken 'to pull'. The trigger is literally 'the pulling part' — you pull it, and what follows happens.
trigger 來自荷蘭語 trekker（扳機），字根 trekken 就是「拉、扯」。所以扳機的本義是「被拉動的那個部件」——拉一下，後面的事就跟著發生。
