A shipbuilder is a company whose work is making ships — the firm, the yard, the business. News and textbooks use it this way: “a Korean shipbuilder” means a company, not one worker with a hammer. Though actually people also use it for a person who builds ships, so you may hear both. It is a plain work word, not slang.
