核心畫面

Picture two things standing across a gap, facing each other from the far ends. That one image carries the whole word. In space it means 'directly across from' — the house opposite, sitting opposite you. In idea it means 'as different as can be' — two ends of the same line pulling apart. Whether it's a position, a direction, a person, or a quality, 'opposite' is always the far end looking back at the near end.
