You can picture forever as a line of time with no far end — it just keeps going, on and on, never stopping. From that endless stretch the other uses bend: a span so long it merely feels endless, an action that keeps repeating as if it'll never quit, the storybook 'for all time,' and something so long it seems to run on without end.
