One way to hold it: something from the past comes back all at once, in a flash, without being called — a sudden return along a line that should only run forwards.

關鍵在 flash(一瞬間、不是慢慢來)加上 back(往回、逆著該走的方向)。

From the word’s history

A transparent compound: flash + back. The word carries its own picture — 'back' gives the reversed direction, 'flash' gives the suddenness, and every sense is some line running backwards in an instant.

構詞完全透明:flash(閃、一瞬間)+ back(往回)。

flashback (drug recurrence) · noun · C2

A time when someone feels again the same bad feeling they had when they took an illegal drug, even long after that day is over.
