- 1a/jəˈreɪʒən/across Europe and Asia歐亞的
Belonging to, coming from, or stretching across the one large piece of land that Europe and Asia form together. Used of places, rock layers, , history, and of animals and plants found over that whole area.
歐洲和亞洲之間沒有海隔開。它們是連在一起的同一塊陸地。這整塊陸地叫 Eurasia。Eurasian 就是「屬於這一整塊的」。它一次指整片,不是某一個國家。地理、地科和歷史的文章最常用它。像 the Eurasian plate(歐亞板塊)。動植物的名字裡也很常見。Eurasian otter 從英國一路分布到日本。所以名字前面才會冠上「歐亞」。開頭的 E 要大寫。因為它是由兩個洲的名字拼出來的。
示範例句 · Example
Our teacher drew the Eurasian landmass on the board and showed us where the two continents meet.
中文翻譯我們的老師在黑板上畫了那塊歐亞陸地,並指給我們看兩個洲在哪裡相接。
Europe and Asia are not two separate islands. They sit on one unbroken stretch of land, and that whole stretch has a name: Eurasia. Eurasian points at that whole stretch at once. So a Eurasian trade route is one that runs the length of it, and the Eurasian plate is the sheet of rock that lies under it. Nature writing uses the word the same way. The Eurasian otter is called that because it turns up from Britain across to Japan, not because it belongs to one country. The word keeps its capital E, because it is built out of the names of the two continents.

- 2n/jəˈreɪʒən/a person with European and Asian parents歐亞混血的人
A person who has one European parent and one Asian parent. The dictionary marks this use old-fashioned, so in writing today it can sound borrowed from an earlier time.
這是把上面那個形容詞直接當名詞用。舊書不寫 a Eurasian writer。它們直接寫 a Eurasian。複數是 Eurasians。指的是父母一邊歐洲、一邊亞洲的人。另一份資料的說法比較寬。它只說血緣同時來自歐洲和亞洲。字典同樣把這個用法標成 old-fashioned。所以它最大的價值是「讀得懂」。看到舊小說或舊檔案裡的 a Eurasian,你知道在講什麼。自己寫現在的人時,講出兩邊背景通常更清楚。
This is the same idea as the adjective, packed into a noun. Instead of saying a Eurasian writer, older books simply say a Eurasian. The plural is Eurasians. The fuller source entry gives a looser version, a person of mixed European and Asian ancestry, which does not insist on the parents themselves. The old-fashioned label is the part a learner needs most: recognise the word when you meet it in an older novel or an old record, and say the two backgrounds plainly when you are writing about a person now.

- 3a/jəˈreɪʒən/of mixed European and Asian descent歐亞混血的
Used of a person who has one European parent and one Asian parent, or more loosely of someone whose family lines run back to both places. The dictionary marks this use old-fashioned, so a reader may hear it as a word from an earlier time.
Here the word has moved off the map and onto a person. The two continents that meet in the land are now the two sides of one family. The learner dictionary keeps it narrow: one European parent and one Asian parent. The fuller source entry is looser and says only mixed European and Asian ancestry, which covers a grandparent as well. Both sources are describing the same idea from different distances. The label matters as much as the meaning: old-fashioned tells you the word carries the flavour of older books, older papers and older magazines, so naming the two backgrounds directly is usually the clearer choice when you are describing someone today.
