Biracial describes people, families, or groups that include two different — often a person whose parents are of two , or a community made of two racial groups. In US English this is a careful identity word; newspapers and forms use it. You will also meet it as a noun for a person, though many people prefer it as an adjective in front of a noun: a biracial student. Some say mixed-race instead; some would rather name the two sides than use a cover-all label. Race here is the social , not a running race. The word is much more at home in American talk than in Taiwan everyday speech.
