You can picture the line at the edge where one area stops and the next begins — like the line on a map between two countries. Everything else is this same edge-line seen in other places: the strip running along the rim of a picture or a , the moment where one situation turns into another, and as a verb, two things sitting edge-to-edge or one thing running a band along another's rim.
