一起讀、一起聊的人
共享的方式是「一起讀同一本,再碰面交換想法」。club 的核心在人與聚會,所以這個意思的重量全在討論上。
noun · B1
A group of people who all read the same book on their own and then meet, usually at the same time each month, to talk about what they thought of it.

A club is a set of people who have signed up to share one thing. In a book club, the thing they share is books. Hold that picture and both meanings fall out of it: a handful of people sharing the same book and their opinions of it, or a much larger set of members sharing one supplier who sends them books at a members-only price. The word says nothing about which; it only says that books are what holds the membership together.

把書送到會員手上的組織
共享的方式換成「同一個供書來源」。會員身分帶來的是價錢,不是碰面,所以 club 這層變成商業的會員制。
noun · B2
A company that you pay to be a member of, which then sells you books more cheaply than a shop does and sends them to you, often in return for choosing a set number of books from its list each year.
