Uzbekistan is a country in Central Asia, with Kazakhstan to the north, Turkmenistan to the south-west, and Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan around it. Its capital is Tashkent, and its most famous cities — Samarkand and Bukhara — were great stops on the old Silk Road, full of blue-tiled domes.
