This is the adverb of uneconomical — it describes HOW something is done: in a way that wastes money, fuel, or materials, so the cost outweighs the return. A factory can be run uneconomically. Land can be farmed uneconomically. A heater can burn fuel uneconomically. Because adverbs attach to verbs, you will nearly always find this word next to a verb of doing or running: operate uneconomically, run uneconomically, produce uneconomically. Be honest with yourself about how rare it is. It is a long word, it is formal, and it lives mostly in business reports, engineering documents, and government papers. In ordinary speech and in most student writing, people go around it — 'the plant was losing money', 'the old car uses too much petrol', 'it costs more than it's worth'. Those sound better than forcing the adverb in. There is also a small point worth knowing: you sometimes see it used to mean 'unprofitably' and sometimes 'wastefully', and those are not quite the same. A well-run charity spends money without profit, but not wastefully. Because of that slight blur, careful writers often prefer to say plainly what they mean.
