    正式To have something happen to you, or to have someone do something to you, especially a big change or something difficult.

    「undergo」是正式英文中「經歷某件事」的說法，比 have 或 go through 更正式，常出現在新聞、學術或醫療情境中。這件事通常不是自己主動做的，而是發生在你身上或別人對你做的，例如動手術、接受訓練、經歷改變。它是及物動詞，後面一定要接名詞（undergo surgery、undergo a change），不能單獨使用。

Picture standing still while something is done to you or happens through you — the operation, the training, the rebuilding of the whole building. The subject of the sentence is not driving the action; they are the one it passes through.

可以想成：站在原地，讓某件事在你身上發生、從你身上走過——手術、訓練、整棟樓的翻修。句子的主詞不是動手的那一方，而是「事情經過的那一方」。這正是它跟 experience 的差別：experience 泛指經歷，undergo 特別指被施加、而且份量不輕的事，語氣正式。
