Tyrannical describes someone who uses power over other people and , and it also describes the way they behave — 'a tyrannical ruler', 'tyrannical behaviour', 'a tyrannical regime'. The core picture is a person who cannot be argued with: they make the rules, the rules serve them, and there is no way to appeal. It is a strong, formal, word. You will find it most often about dictators and kings in history writing, but people also use it, half seriously, about anyone small who lords it over others — a tyrannical boss, a tyrannical coach, a tyrannical two-year-old who rules the whole house. That stretch to small domestic things is common and often has a touch of humour in it. It can even be used about things, not people: 'the tyrannical demands of the exam system'. Because it is such a heavy word, using it about your manager in real life sounds either literary or like a joke; in ordinary speech people would more likely say 'controlling' or 'a bully'.
組成From Latin tyrannicus plus the English ending -al ('of this kind'). Latin took it from Ancient Greek τύραννος (túrannos), which meant an absolute ruler — someone who seized power rather than inheriting it. Interestingly, in early Greek the word did not have to mean 'cruel'; that meaning grew on it later.
