To teleport is to move instantly from one place to another without crossing the space in between — you disappear here and appear there. This is a science-fiction idea, not a real thing, and the word comes from stories, films and games. It works two ways. You can teleport something: 'The machine teleported the crew down to the planet.' Or a person can teleport: 'She teleported to the roof.' In video games it is an everyday word — players say 'teleport me to the boss', and gamers often shorten it to 'TP' ('just TP back to town'). Outside science fiction and games, people use it as a joke or an exaggeration when they wish a journey were faster: 'I wish I could just teleport to work.' That joking use is very common and completely natural. There is also a noun 'teleport' meaning the pad or gate you step onto in a game, though 'teleporter' is more usual for that.
