A very small amount of something. It is informal, and it almost always appears as 'a tad'.
一點點
The smallest helping you can still call a helping — the drop of milk that only just colours the tea. Once you have a word for an amount that small, you can also use it for a difference that small.
可以想成小到不能再小的一份：倒進茶裡只剛好把顏色改掉的那一滴牛奶。有了這麼小的一份，同一個字就順手拿去講「小到這種程度的差別」——所以量和程度用的是同一個 a tad。
From the word’s history
First recorded in 1877 meaning a young or small child, probably a shortened form of tadpole; the 'small amount' meaning is first recorded in 1915.
1877 年最早的意思是「小孩、小不點」，可能是 tadpole（蝌蚪）縮短來的；到 1915 年才開始有「一點點」的用法。從「小小一隻」到「小小一份」，這條線在字典裡有紀錄。
