A squeezer is a small kitchen tool for pressing juice out of fruit, most often lemons, limes, or oranges. The usual kinds are the metal one shaped like two hinged halves — you put a cut half of lemon inside and press the handles together — and the plain dish with a cone in the middle that you twist the fruit onto. People usually say what fruit it is for: a lemon squeezer, a lime squeezer, an orange squeezer. Said alone, squeezer sounds a little bare and most speakers would add the fruit. The word is not limited to fruit, though: -er just means the thing that squeezes, so you also meet a garlic squeezer (though garlic press is much more common) and, in older or joking use, a squeezer for anything that presses. If the machine has a motor, people normally say juicer instead — juicer covers electric machines and blender-type ones, while squeezer suggests something small and worked by hand.
榨汁器、擠汁器(檸檬用的叫「檸檬榨汁器」);電動的台灣一般說「榨汁機」
組成squeeze (to press something hard from the sides so what is inside comes out) + -er, the ending that names the doer or the tool. So: the thing that squeezes. The -er ending here is very old, coming down through Old English from Latin -arius.
