- 1心胸狹窄的、器量小的、目光如豆（也指眼界窄、容不下不一樣的人事物）
Describes a person whose thinking is narrow: they care about petty little matters, their own small circle, their own comfort, and they cannot or will not consider anything bigger. It is always a criticism.
It covers two overlapping faults. One is pettiness — fussing over who took the last parking space, keeping score of tiny favours, complaining to the neighbours about a fence. The other, heavier one is a refusal to accept people or ideas that are unfamiliar: a small-minded person dislikes what is foreign, new, or different, simply because it is not what they grew up with. When someone says "small-minded attitudes towards immigrants", that second meaning is doing the work, and it is a polite-sounding way of saying .
Notice it says nothing about intelligence. A small-minded person can be clever and well-educated; the smallness is in what they are willing to think about, not in how well they think. That is what makes it sting — you cannot answer it by pointing to your degree.
The opposites are "broad-minded" and "open-minded". "Narrow-minded" is a very close neighbour, leaning a little more towards the refusing-new-ideas half.
組成small（小）+ mind（心思、想法）+ -ed。這個 -ed 不是過去式，而是「具有這種…的」：open-minded、absent-minded、blue-eyed 都是同一個造法，字面就是「帶著一顆小心思的」。
