If a statement or belief about the future is self-fulfilling, it becomes true because people expected it and then behaved in a way that made it happen. The set phrase you will meet again and again is self-fulfilling prophecy. A teacher who treats a class as "the weak group" may get weak work back — not because the future was fixed, but because the belief changed how everyone acted. This is a fairly formal word, from psychology and the news more than from the night market. Though actually, people sometimes wave it at any guess that later comes true, and that misses the point: the belief has to help cause the result. Fulfilling here does not mean "making you feel happy or satisfied." It means "making the prediction come true." American spelling is fulfill; British is fulfil; the adjective is self-fulfilling either way.
