In British English, the name you share with your family and write last in your full name — the same thing as a surname or a last name.
姓（英式說法）
Lay a person's names out in a row and point at the second one. The pointing is easy; the counting is not. If the row you have in mind is just given name plus family name, your finger lands on the family name. If the row is the whole official name, it lands on the one in the middle. Same phrase, same finger, two different names.
可以想成把一個人的名字排成一列，然後指著第二個。指很容易，難的是怎麼數。如果心裡排的是「名字＋姓」兩格，手指會落在姓上面。如果排的是完整的官方全名，手指就落在中間那一個。同一個說法、同一個動作，指到的卻是不同的名字。所以遇到這個詞，先確認對方心裡排的是哪一列。
