You hear it in news, official letters, and sports (“the resumption of play after rain”). Though actually, everyday English often prefers the verb: “they resumed talks” is more common, and a little warmer, than “the resumption of talks.” The noun feels like a headline. It is not a summary, and it is not the job paper called a résumé — that only looks similar on the page.
