Picture one single step of a walking foot — a measured stride. From that one stride grow two ideas at once: how big the step is (a unit of distance) and how fast the steps come (a rate). Almost everything 'pace' means is either 'one step' or 'the speed of the stepping', stretched from feet onto , work, companies, and life.
